The battle between Microsoft and Mozilla is known in the entire world because their browsers, Internet Explorer and Firefox, are currently attracting the majority of the Internet users. Although there were a lot of discussions concerning the features of the two applications, Firefox seems to be the favorite of the battle with a new secret weapon: social tools. The Mozilla Labs confirmed the rumors and added that Firefox is currently testing a new attractive function that allows you to organize and enhance your community of friends. The new utility, codename The Coop, is already in testing and will act as an extension for the Mozilla browser.

"Enter "The Coop", a Mozilla Labs project to experiment with adding social tools to the web browser. We want to create a fun and easy way to share links with your friends, and to browse the set of links that friends have shared with you. We also want to make it easy to "subscribe" to a friend in order to make it easy to keep track of the pictures, movies, blog posts and status information that they might be posting on a variety of services," Mike Beltzner sustained in a blog post published on Mozilla Labs.

At this time, there is not official beta extension but, if you want to test the upcoming tool and see how useful it can be, you are allowed to download a prototype able to present the principle of The Coop. All you need to do is to login into your Mozilla account, click on edit account and then enable the Sandbox extensions. After you clicked on Save, get back to the official page of Mozilla Addons, select Sandbox near the search box and type "The Coop". You should be able to see the prototype and install it using the latest version of the Mozilla Firefox.
