Mozilla is moving forward with the development of its Firefox browser for handsets running under Google's Android operating system, and the company has just made available for download a new beta flavor of the application. Following the release of Firefox 7.0 in the stable channel only a few days ago, the Firefox 8.0 browser has been moved to the beta channel, and is expected to graduate to a stable release within the next several weeks.

There are some nice enhancements that users will enjoy in the new application release, including Twitter sears, master password support, and the ability to add bookmarks to the homescreen.

In the beta flavor of Firefox 8.0 for Android, users will enjoy the ability to search for various #hashtags and @usernames easier on Twitter, as the microblogging website was added as a default search option.

The new feature was already made available in various languages, and should add a few more in the near future.

At the moment, the new Twitter search option is available in English, Spanish, Italian, French, German, Japanese, Polish, Czech, Russian, Danish, Suomi, and Norwegian.

The release notes for the new application flavor include the following as well: - Master Password Support: This feature uses one master password to help users encrypt saved usernames and passwords for increased security.

- Home Screen Bookmarks: Users can add any bookmarked website to their Android Home Screen and launch it with one click.

The new Firefox 8.0 for Android has just landed in the beta channel, and is now available for download for all devices that run under Android 2.0 or newer versions of the operating system.

Those who would like to learn additional info on the new application release should head over to Mozilla's website here.
