Although it is yet to officially announce the ninth beta release of its Firefox 4 web browser, a Mac-compatible build has been uploaded to the company’s servers and is immediately available for download.

Mozilla’s Firefox 4 Beta page still serves the eighth release in the Firefox 4.0 milestone, yet those who are no longer privy of the company’s FTP servers can grab Beta 9 right away.

Firefox 4 Beta is based on the Gecko 2.0 Web platform.

Recent beta releases of Firefox 4 have been considered to be stable and safe to use for daily web browsing.

However, the features and content are always subject to change before the final product release.

As usual, add-ons that haven’t been tested by their authors against this release may not work.

Those who wish to help test Add-on compatibility are encouraged to install the Add-on Compatibility Reporter.

Firefox betas now include a Feedback Add-on by default in the upper right corner of the browser’s interface.

Users can employ this tool to provide instant feedback at any time.

Users are also notified about studies (run by Mozilla Test Pilot) which collect information about how folks like you use Firefox (don’t worry, this doesn’t extend to your browsing history, Mozilla promises).

Unfortunately, since Mozilla hasn’t made the Beta 9 release official, there are no release notes to examine.

However, the changelog may not reveal anything spectacular anyway, since Firefox 4.0 is known to be approaching its final release soon.

As it generally happens, the last betas before a final launch only focus on polishing up the software, rather than on adding new functionality.
