14 DAY TRIAL // Having wrapped up and offered for download the seventh Beta of the next major iteration of its open source browser, Mozilla is ready to move onward to Firefox 4.0 Beta 8. With the delay between Beta 6 and Beta 7, the open source browser vendor is under less pressure to develop Firefox 4.0 as fast as possible, as the project has already been pushed back to early 2011.
But Mozilla still has to deliver no less than three remaining Beta development milestones for Firefox 4.0 by the end of the year.
As Firefox 4.0 Beta 7 went live earlier this week, Beta 8 had no less than 87 blockers, namely bugs severe enough to prevent the release of the Build.
In this regard, Mozilla has given itself sufficient time to deal withal the problems that still impact Firefox 4.0 Beta 8.
The browser vendor intends to ship the next Beta Build of Firefox 4.0 within approximately three weeks after Beta 7, which means that early adopters could get the next development milestone for testing by the end of November 2010.
Of course, preview versions of Firefox 4.0 Beta 8 continue to be available for download, having been released ahead of the finalization of Beta 7.
These nightly Builds have evolved continually, with the latest updates live as of earlier today.
Following Beta 8 Mozilla plans to release Beta 9 and Beta 10 for Firefox 4.0. Whether or not the browser vendor will be able to do so by the end of the year still remains to be seen.
When it postponed Firefox 4.0, the company indicated that the first Release Candidate (RC) for the browser is planned for early next year.
There are no actual deadlines moving onward, but it’s already perfectly clear that users will only get the final Firefox 4.0 in 2011.
