The Mozilla developers have just released the new Firefox 33.1 for Linux, Windows, and Mac OS X, and they have implemented a number of new, quite interesting features.

Despite the fact that this is just a point release in the Firefox 33.x branch, there are many new features, enough to rival a regular update. This doesn't happen very often and most of the time it's just about security fixes, which seem to be completely absent in this iteration.

The Firefox versions land on time and the devs are following a precise schedule. The general release dates are known for the important builds, but it's not clear ahead of time how many point updates will be made. It's even more surprising when new options and features are added, and most users will certainly enjoy them.

Firefox 33.1 now has a Forget button

The browser from Mozilla already had a feature that allowed users to delete the information and clear everything pertaining to the history, but it has been enhanced and placed in a more prominent position. It's now much more easier to find and to utilize.

"Firefox gives you even more control over your privacy. The new version of Firefox comes with a Forget button, which wipes out your recent browsing history without affecting the rest of your information," write the devs on the official website.

The new feature is not shown by default. Users can access it by opening the Preferences menu and Customize. From there, you can drag the Forget button to the toolbar and open it afterwards. Several options are available, like Delete Recent Cookies, Delete Recent History, Close All Tabs and Windows, and Open a Clean Window. Also, users can choose to perform these options for Five Minutes, Two Hours, and 24 Hours.

Firefox 33.1 also comes with better Tiles, which are the bookmarks used by the browser in the New Tab page. "With Enhanced Tiles and Directory Tiles, Firefox provides users easy access to interesting, relevant content, whether it's the sites they visit most or new sites for them to discover. When you open a new tab in Firefox, you see several rectangles that link to different websites. Some people call them squares, windows or bookmarks; we call them Tiles," also write the devs.

Other new features include a new privacy tour and the implementation of the DuckDuckGo search engine as an option. You can download Firefox 33.1 from Softpedia and give it a go, or you can wait until it is uploaded to your repositories.
