Canonical has published details about a number of Firefox vulnerabilities in its Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, Ubuntu 13.10, and Ubuntu 12.04 LTS operating systems, and it has released a new version of the Internet browser for users.

The new Firefox 30 has just landed in the Ubuntu repositories for all the supported operating systems, and all users have to do is to upgrade their installations. The latest version of Firefox also comes with numerous security fixes.

According to the Ubuntu security report, “Abhishek Arya discovered multiple use-after-free and out-of-bounds read issues in Firefox. An attacker could potentially exploit these to cause a denial of service via application crash or execute arbitrary code with the priviliges of the user invoking Firefox.”

And this is just one of the vulnerabilities found. For a more detailed description of the problems, you can check out Canonical's security notification.

Ubuntu developers have been quick and made the new Firefox 30 available in the official repositories so that anyone can upgrade easily, including Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) users. Just open the Software Updater tool and install the latest version from there.

Alternatively, you can download Mozilla Firefox 30 right now from Softpedia, but this is just the binary file and users won't be able to install it, just run it.
