The stable version for Firefox 16 is planned for release next week, on October 9. With no blocking issues being reported, Mozilla has signed off the release.
There is, however, a recent bug report about JavaScript crashing, which the development team deemed as relating to an add-on.
At the moment, the fifth beta for Firefox 16 already counts 1.8 million active daily users and the crash ratio recorded is of 2.8%; data about beta six of the browser has not been compiled yet.
Firefox 16 is expected to ship with preliminary VoiceOver support turned on by default on Mac OS X (last release to support Leopard), initial support for web apps for all supported desktop platforms and more increased JavaScript responsiveness through incremental garbage collection.
For developers there is a new toolbar that offers fast access to tools, error count for the Web Console, and a new command line for quick keyboard access.
