We were expecting it a bit sooner, but Firefox 15 beta is finally available for download. One of the biggest changes in this release is memory usage optimization for add-ons, but besides improvements there are new features as well.

Firefox 15 beta adds preliminary support for native PDF, which should allow this type of documents to be rendered as seamlessly as any other web page. There is also support for SPDY networking protocol v3 and WebGL enhancements, including compressed textures for better performance.

For developers, there is a JavaScript debugger integrated in the developer tools and a new layout view for Inspector. Furthermore, the new responsive design tool permits switching between desktop and mobile views of sites.

On the HTML5 front, Firefox 15 beta adds native support for Opus audio codec, <source> element supports the media attribute while <audio> and <video> now support the played attribute.
