Mozilla released the beta build for the upcoming stable version of their web browser. It is available for Windows, Mac and Linux, and the modifications impact on both functionality and performance.

Firefox 13 beta brings to the table a changed Home Page, which offers quick access to areas such as Bookmarks, History, Settings, Add-ons, Downloads and Sync Preferences. The new tab page is no longer barren, as it is now populated by thumbnails showing the most frequently accessed pages by default, but you can also customize the list with your own locations.

Performance has been improved by introducing “Tabs on Demand,” a feature that loads the tabs as you access them when restoring a session, thus making it faster to restart Firefox. On the same note, SPDY is now enabled by default, which translates into faster browsing.
