14 DAY TRIAL // This past Tuesday, a litter of five wolf pups were saved from encroaching flames by firefighters trying to control and put out the Funny River blaze in Alaska.
Information shared with the public says that, at the time the firefighters found them, the wolf pups were hidden inside an abandoned den.
Despite the fact that the flames had not yet reached them, the young wolves were not exactly in good condition. On the contrary, they were quite hungry and had porcupine quills sticking into their skin.
The firefighters took care of removing the quills and also gave the puppies some water mixed with sugar to gulp down. The baby wolves immediately started feeling better, Live Science informs.
Shortly after being pulled out of the den, the wolf pups were taken to Anchorage, a city in Alaska. People in charge of looking after them hope it will not be long until they manage to find a permanent home for them.
The wildlife that threatened to kill these five wolf pups has been burning for well over a week. It is estimated that it has until now affected an area spanning over 183,000 acres, and firefighters are still trying to contain it.
Although this is yet to be confirmed, evidence indicates that the blaze was caused by a campfire that a group of nature enthusiasts failed to properly put out.
