Video game developer Red 5 Studios, the creator of the MMO Firefall, has apparently decided to fire Mark Kern from his role as chief executive officer, mainly because he has been unable to finish the game and deliver it to the public.

The information comes from Gamasutra, which quotes an e-mail that has been sent by James Macauley, the vice president of development at the studio, to all the employees of the company.

The internal communication does not offer information on why the CEO has been removed, but it does mention that the development of Firefall will see a significant change after the leadership shake-up.

Red 5 Studio will function without a chief executive officer for the moment, with members of the board covering his responsibilities.

The company was founded in 2005 by Mark Kern and by other former members of the team that created World of Warcraft.

Firefall has been delayed several times and it is not supposed to be out in 2014.
