IT security company FireEye has launched a new version of the Oculus platform that’s designed especially for small and midsize businesses.

Oculus provides scalable security, being powered by FireEye’s advanced threat prevention platforms. The solution, which includes continues monitoring mechanisms, is capable of protecting web, email and mobile systems.

Web threat protection is based on the company’s FireEye NX series platform, which is designed to protect networks and the data they store against a wide range of threats, including zero-day exploits.

For email protection, SMBs can rely on the EX series. Mobile devices can be secured with the aid of a cloud-based platform provided by FireEye.

Other capabilities of FireEye Oculus include continuous monitoring, cybercon reports and health checks. The monitoring system enables IT teams to proactively identify advanced persistent threats based on threat intelligence from FireEye.

The reports include threat information that offers a complete view of the landscape in order to ensure that companies are better prepared to manage risk. In case health checks fail, customers are immediately alerted so that protection against advanced cyberthreats remains uninterrupted.

“FireEye is putting virtual machine technology into the hands of SMBs,” noted Manish Gupta, FireEye senior vice president of products.

“With the FireEye solution, SMBs obtain a simple and scalable security solution for advanced threats to safeguard corporate assets and drive down business risks. SMBs will enjoy unmatched advanced threat protection solution with continuous monitoring to augment their limited resources.”

Customers are not the only ones who benefit from this new solution. Oculus also provides FireEye’s channel partners the opportunity to expand their sales portfolios.

“The new commercial offerings from FireEye open up whole new markets for us to target. Smaller organizations with high-value assets face the same threats as larger enterprises. Now we have a FireEye solution to help protect them,” explained Barrie Desmond, group marketing director with Exclusive Networks.
