Finland will become a Contributing Partner to the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Center of Excellence (CCDCOE), based in Tallinn, Estonia.

According to SC Magazine, only NATO nations can apply for full membership. However, non-members can also join as Contributing Participants. Finnish experts are expected to start working at the CCDCOE next year.

“We have worked very closely with Finnish Defence Forces in previous years and they are one of our key partners in organising the technical cyber defence exercise Locked Shields,” said Colonel Artur Suzik, the director of the CCDCOE.

The list of nations already working with the center includes the US, Spain, Slovakia, Poland, the Netherlands, Latvia, Lithuania, Italy, Hungary, Germany and Estonia.

Turkey, France, the UK, the Czech Republic and Greece are in the process of joining. Iceland has announced its intentions to join the CCDCOE sometime in the future.
