British Security Solution: Take the Food Away From Children!

I understand that security is a very important thing, especially nowadays, otherwise I wouldn't be writing about this. It's just that some measures are way too drastic, in my opinion. The United Kingdom has made the news lately, for their security measures and the next one is about a case going on in a British school, from Leeds.

As the Register informs, one learning institution told children in the dinner queue that if they didn't give their fingerprints they wouldn't get any food. Sure, this is bound to make a lot of them cope with the idea, or act faster about this, but it still seems outrageous to me! They're just children! It's not like they can't get a packed lunch, but when talking about how well one can study, a sandwich will never beat a hot meal when it comes to "recharging" your "thinking batteries".

Furthermore, in a statement for BBC Radio 4, the Department for Education and Skills said that schools that refused dinners to kids who won't scan their fingerprints, might be violating the law. So, even though the schools have a lot of freedom about the use of biometric systems, it seems that the government is still watching closely, making sure any laws aren't broken. The technology is going to be used by pupils to access some services; however, it is not compulsory.

The biometric technology is not something bad, or something that one should hate just because these improper measures have been applied. It has a lot of good uses and makes life easier, although, I have to agree that it will take a lot of time for everyone to get used to this. To some people this seems depicted from a SciFi movie, so here is more information about it and how it can be used in schools.
