No, not all the members are getting paid the same amount

They may be the hottest boy band on Earth at the moment, but not all five members of the lineup are raking in the same kind of cash at the end of the week. Though extremely lucrative, their career doesn't entitle them to equal financial rights and that, in the long run, could prove the driving wedge between the five young men.

The Sun has made some calculations based on known facts and came up with the winning equation. Teenage girls may be screaming their lungs out every time One Direction makes an appearance, but we all know it's cold, hard cash what rules the world and, in that respect, members Liam Payne and Louis Tomlison come out a little better when the checks come in.

The reason for that is because Liam and Louis have co-wrote half of the songs on the group's latest album “Midnight Memories,” that will eventually translate into a larger royalty cut for them when compared to other band members.

According to law, songwriters receive 9% of each song's royalties, in case you're interested, so while Harry Styles and Niall Horan have the attention of the media and the fans, Payne and Tomlinson cash extra checks and bring in more money.

“Louis and I have a little partnership going on. We've been pretty keen to start writing straight away,” hard-working Payne told the British newspaper the Sun. In proving they are not resting on their laurels, the boys are already hard at work in the studio, eager to produce their next hit.

“I've been in the studio already, it's been going really well. Learning how to write is the best way of ensuring your career has longevity and that you have control over it,” Payne added, proving that he's not just riding out this fame train, but he's thinking ahead.

And not to toot his own horn, but he did have some high words about One Direction's next musical creation, “I really think the next album is going to be a game-changer for us. I'm excited.”

Overall, the One Direction band is thought to have a net worth which exceeds the hundred million pound mark. They are currently sitting on top of a financial empire which is comprised of significant sales and revenue, various merchandise, a branded perfume and, believe it or not, their own brand of duct tape.
