Here’s a story that highlights the importance of anti-theft apps on smartphones and tablets. A man who lost his iPad on a plane used an application called “Find My iPad” to locate the device. Much to his surprise, the program led him to the house of a Horizon Air flight attendant.

According to The Daily Mail, the Nevada man forgot about the app until after he discovered that the device was missing.

When he activated its tracking function, he was pointed to the residence of flight attendant Wendy Dye, who claimed that she planned to turn the item over to the company, but forgot about it. She insisted that she hadn’t utilized it.

However, after analyzing the iPad, the police noticed that the suspect’s information was already on it, including a reminder for her husband’s birthday.

Authorities arrested Dye and charged her with theft and computer crime. In the meantime, the airline suspended her.
