Symantec has published an infographic to sum up the financial threat landscape of 2013. According to the company, the number of infections with the most common financial Trojans increased by 337% in the first three quarters of this year.

For instance, Tilon infected around 2,000 computers and Mebroot around 9,000. ZeuS and Gameover account for the largest number of infections – 2 million computers.

Other notable threats are Cridex (125,000 infections), Shylock (33,000 infections), SpyEye (26,000 infections) and Bebloh (21,000 infections).

These threats are capable of performing various tasks, including taking screenshots, recording videos, and stealing digital certificates and other sensitive information. They also allow cybercriminals to launch man-in-the-browser attacks, use infected computers as proxies, and redirect users to arbitrary websites.

When it comes to the countries targeted by these pieces of malware, most infections have been spotted in the US (1 million), followed by Japan (206,000), the UK (178,000), Germany (135,000) and Canada (118,000).
