“Rock Witchu” dates postponed again

Janet Jackson’s 2007 “Discipline” album did not quite perform as her management had hoped it would, which marked yet another studio material that failed to get her back to the number one spot. Her “Rock Witchu” international tour was equally plagued by bad news, with one cancellation after another in the US. Now, the Japanese leg of the tour has also been postponed due to the financial crisis, the Japanese organizers are saying.

Concert promoter Kyodo Yokohama confirmed that Janet and her management called off all five dates she was supposed to play in major cities in Japan. The argument offered for it was, according to MTV News, that she could not make it to the gigs scheduled to take place between February 14 and February 22 “due to the impact of [the] economic crisis,” according to the aforementioned source.

This latest cancellation comes in the context in which her US tour was just as well marred by all sorts of problems. Initially, the “Rock Witchu” was pushed back several times, as Janet prepared for what was to be her first live appearance in seven years. Then, some US dates had to be canceled because the singer was rushed to the hospital, and was believed to be suffering from some form of unexplainable disease. Further medical investigations later revealed that she had severe vertigo, which practically made it impossible for her to do the gigs.

There is, however, a faint light at the end of the tunnel, as they say, since the tour could be resumed sooner than fans might think. “Jackson, 42, had planned to hit such major Japanese cities as Nagoya, Osaka and Fukuoka on the world ‘Rock Witchu’ outing, which was her first major tour in nearly seven years. According to reports, the tour will be rescheduled for later this year with new dates expected to be announced in March.” MTV News reports.

It is not yet known whether Janet Jackson is planning to do other gigs, this time in the US, while she and her team are waiting for the effects of the crisis to allow her to tour. Keep an eye on this space for more details on this.
