Microsoft is advancing at a slow pace with the Windows Vista Ultimate Extras. Although it was announced with great fanfare as a source for additional content designed to integrate seamlessly
with the high end edition of Windows Vista, the Ultimate Extras are far from delivering actual incentive to convince users that Vista Ultimate is worth $399.

As yet, the Redmond Company is not breathing a single word as to when the final version of Windows DreamScene will become available. DreamScene can be accessed only by users of Windows Vista Ultimate and it will enable them to set up video backgrounds on their Vista desktop.

Aaron Hare, a software engineer working at Microsoft on the development of Ultimate Extras revealed that the final version of DreamScene will be available in additional languages outside of English. "The most common question right now seems to be that people want to know why they don't see the DreamScene preview in Windows Update when they do see the other extras like Hold 'Em. Most likely, this is because Windows is running in a language other than English. One important thing about the preview is that it is only available in English. When we release the final version of DreamScene, it will be available in other languages as well," he said.

Hare has failed however to provide the date when Ultimate users should expect the final version of DreamScene. "Understandably, after finding out that the final release of DreamScene will be available in other languages, people would like to know when exactly that will be. We can't comment on future release dates, but rest assured it will be soon; just hold on," Hare said.

In the meantime, Ultimate users can download the Windows DreamScene Technical Preview along with a Content Pack that Microsoft has made available. The video at the bottom features all the content offered by Microsoft for DreamScene. If you are running a copy of Windows Vista Ultimate, you can download it via Windows Update.
