The annual Starlight Celebration has returned to Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, seeing the citizens of the three city-states doing their best to decorate the realm.

Following the first major content patch for FFXIV, A Realm Awoken, the fun seasonal event brings joy to all players. The snowmen ordered for the festivities were kidnapped on their way from the frozen north, and now adventurers around the world must get to the bottom of the chilly mystery.

Players are invited to participate in uncovering the culprits behind the snowmen's disappearance and save them, restoring the festive spirit to the realm, as stated on the PlayStation Blog.

The brave adventurers that do will be awarded with seasonal snowman-themed outfits, reindeer and cute reindeer barding for chocobos, and even red and white gear bearing a striking resemblance to a certain jolly character's.

Patch 2.1 has also seen the introduction of a ton of content, 4v4 PvP, a huge new 24-person raid, new dungeons, dailies and much more, the entire changelog being available here.

The Starlight Celebration will be open until December 31, 2013.
