Square Enix has detailed the variety of pre-order bonuses now available for the upcoming Final Fantasy XIII-2 role playing game, which is set to appear at the end of January, 2012.

Final Fantasy XIII wasn't the huge success Square Enix had hope for and, coupled with the pretty big failure of Final Fantasy XIV, the long running Japanese role playing game series isn't doing so well.

As such, the company wants to make amends and show fans that it can still deliver a proper, sprawling RPG adventure, so it's now putting the final touches on Final Fantasy XIII-2, a sequel to the experience from the recent title that continues its core story.

In order to further entice people to pre-order the upcoming title, Square Enix has now posted the variety of bonuses that are offered by different North American retailers, including GameStop, Amazon, or Best Buy.

These stores offer all sorts of things, from a special boss battle to in-game items or a collectible hardcover book, so check out the details below, courtesy of Square Enix.

GameStop

Receive an exclusive in-game item by preordering at GameStop retailers: Alternate costume for Serah, visible throughout the game

Amazon

Omega Boss Battle: Unique coliseum battle against boss enemy "Omega," who joins the player's party afterward

Best Buy

Collectible Hardcover Book: Final Fantasy XIII –Episode i– novella, an original story that ties together the events of Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy XIII-2

Pre-order bonuses for other territories, like Europe, have yet to be announced, and Square Enix mentions that they might differ from the ones mentioned above, valid only for North American Final Fantasy fans.

Those that can't pre-order the game from the aforementioned retailers should know that the Omega boss battle, as well as the alternate costuome for Serah and a new one for Noel, will be offered as downloadable content after the game's launch.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 will be released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles on January 31, 2012, in North America, and February 3, in Europe, for $59.99 or 59.99 Euros.
