Yoichi Wada, who is the chief executive officer at publisher Square Enix, has revealed that the MMO Final Fantasy XI is the most profitable of the titles bearing that name, which is the reason why his company keeps delivering content for it.

Final Fantasy XI is set to get a new expansion, called Seekers of Adoulin, during 2012 and players can look forward to new areas to explore and more quests to solve.

Final Fantasy XI was launched on the PlayStation 2 and the PC during 2002 in Japan and managed to first generate a profit for Square Enix during 2003.

Since then the publisher has tried to score another hit in the MMO space with Final Fantasy XIV, but the game was very buggy on launch and many players were dissatisfied with the changes made to the core game mechanics.

The development team working on the game plans to re-launch it during late 2012 with the 2.0 version, which is designed to eliminate all problems that were reported.
