Square Enix is set to re-release Final Fantasy VII on the PC later this year with a special Character Booster option and now the publisher has revealed that it won’t charge players real-life money for the special feature via microtransactions.

After lots of petitions from fans, Square Enix is going to re-release its critically acclaimed Final Fantasy VII role playing game, but not as a remastered version, as it will only launch it for the PC with just a few new features.

Among these new systems is a Character Booster option that lets players instantly refill their characters’ HP, MP, and Gil levels.

According to Square Enix, this feature won’t charge players money, as the game won’t come with support for microtransactions.

“The Character Booster will not cost real money to use," a Square Enix representative confirmed to Kotaku. "We'll have final pricing info on the game to share soon, but we can confirm that there will be no microtransactions for the upcoming rerelease of Final Fantasy 7 on PC."

Even so, expect the Character Booster to penalize players in some way, maybe by costing a lot of in-game money.
