Apple is “nullifying” the criticisms surrounding the debut of Final Cut Pro X by adding a slew of new features in the latest update, including one dearly missed ability called “multicam editing,” says an Apple Gold Level Authorized Training Center.

The Training Farm has kicked off a training program that tutors aspiring producers on the newly added functionality in Final Cut Pro X 10.0.3.

Apple touted the update as “significant” when it announced it yesterday, and Day Street Productions agrees:

"I think FCP X will become incredibly successful," said Mark Spencer, owner of Day Street Productions in San Francisco and author of several educational texts. "In the professional broadcast arena, it will compete with… Avid and Adobe."

For Amy Leland, an Apple-Certified Final Cut Pro X trainer with The Training Farm, the advances in workflow and media management alone have prompted many to employ FCP X for long-form projects and Web shoots.

"I have now used FCPX to edit episodes of a Web series, instructional videos, corporate videos, actor reels, event video – all kinds of projects with different workflows and needs," said Amy, who is also a freelance editor who's currently working with Inside the Actor's Studio.

"And what FCPX brought to all of those projects were two things that make my life easy; incredible media management tools and a speedy workflow," she added.

Leland believed it was only a matter of time before features like multicam would reel in more professional editors.

"If the FCPX team manages to design (multicam) as well as they've designed some of the other features in FCPX, it's going to go a long way toward winning over more of the professional market," Leland said.

Using an audio matching tool in tandem with the new multicam tool, professional editors can “sync up via audio waveforms if the footage time code doesn't match up,” according The Training Farm.

“As an Apple Gold Level Authorized Training Center, The Training Farm currently offers 3 courses in Final Cut Pro X 10.0.3, including an evening class for working professionals,” the company said.
