Veteran iOS developer MacPhun is about to reach 12 million downloads with its killer photography app, FX Photo Studio. So they decided to celebrate the milestone in the nicest and most generous way possible: make the app free of charge for a couple of days this week.

They wanted to let the word out today, making sure everyone got the heads up in due time. However, the promo starts tomorrow, October 16, and ends the next day, on October 17 (probably at midnight). During this short timeframe FX Photo Studio for both iPhone and iPad will be fully free of charge with no hidden features or feature cutouts. What you see is what you get.

And what you get is a whole lot of awesome filters and effects that you can apply to your photos making them look like true works of art. You can even create your own filters and draw with effects, adjust gamma, saturation, contrast, hues, and exposure, enhance any color in the image using the unique splash tool, add signatures, watermarks, or text bubbles to make your photos even more personal, and even turn your photos into postcards to ship anywhere in the world.

You’ll also be glad to know that it doesn’t require a new device or any firmware either. Just iOS 6 and any iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad that can handle this rather old OS. Happy editing!
