Experts have warned individuals and companies on numerous occasions regarding the importance of password security, but as it turns out, many still fail to apply even the most basic best security practices.

Back in May, Sophos researchers spotted a couple of Wi-Fi SSIDs and associated passwords in an interview broadcasted by ESPN.

Now, F-Secure’s Mikko Hypponen advises everyone to wipe their whiteboards before an interview with a television crew.

The screenshot features a report made by Polish station TVP. The viewers of the broadcast can easily see the login username and its associated “haslo” (the Polish word for “password”).

So let’s hear it once again from the guru of password security, Graham Cluley.

“As we have explained before, if a TV crew is visiting your office it may be sensible to remove any passwords which could appear in the background,” he explained.

“In fact, maybe it makes sense not to have these passwords on show regardless of whether someone is pointing a video camera around the place or not,” he added.
