Filipino Man Has Extensive Plastic Surgery to Look like Superman

There’s comic book fans and then there’s comic book fans. One man from the Philippines, a 35-year-old beauty pageant trainer, loves Superman so much that he’s undergone a series of drastically altering plastic surgeries to be more like his hero.

As the video below will confirm, Herbert Chavez is now virtually unrecognizable and he’s perfectly happy with that.

Known in his home village as “Mr. Hero,” Chavez first went under the knife in 1995 and continues, to this day, to think of other ways to make herself look more like his idol, Superman.

So far, he’s had chin surgery, which got him the Superman chin cleft, eye surgery, cheek implants, a nose job to make his beaker more similar to Christopher Reeves’ and silicone injections in his lips.

In a bid to get the superhero’s rippling physique, Chavez also got liposuction on his stomach and thigh implants, but the most difficult part is yet to come.

He also wants to go through the painful procedure of becoming taller by means of plastic surgery, by having the bones in his legs broken in several places and lengthened slowly, during months of agony.

It’s called cosmetic limb lengthening (CLL) and it’s the most expensive and most painful surgical intervention people undergo for purely cosmetic reasons.

“I have been a life-long fan of Superman after being given the costume when I was a child,” Chavez is quoted by The Sun as saying about his life-altering Superman obsession.

“In 1990 after I started working I could afford to buy the Superman figurines which I have been collecting for over 20 years,” he continues.

Today, his room looks like that of a 10-year-old, as you will see in the video. Everything in it is Superman-branded, from the furniture, the bed covers, the posters on the wall, the carpet and the T-shirts he wears.

While Chavez is happy with the things he’s doing to his body, experts believe he’s suffering from Body Dysmorphic Disorder, which prevents him from seeing his body as it is.
