FileZilla Client has received an important update recently, to version 3.7.0. It is currently in release candidate stage, so not all issues have been eliminated, and packs an impressive list of improvements and several repairs.

Starting this revision, users can see the total transfer speed under the form of a tooltip, over the transfer indicators.

When moving to a parent directory, the former child is now highlighted and high priority is used for transfers when editing files. If the source and target are the same, the drag and drop operation is ignored.

Also changed is the reference to the SSL term, which has been replaced by TLS. Further improvements touch on SFTP performance and the usability of the Update page in the configuration panel.

Notable repairs available in this build address the problem with handling of remote paths containing double-quotes and a memory leak in the host key verification dialog for SFTP.

It also deals with a crash that occurred when opening local directories in Explorer, if the name contained characters not representable in the locale's narrow-width character set.

FileZilla Client is available for download for WindowsMac and Linux.
