FileSoup is the oldest surviving BitTorrent site in existence. It's close to celebrating its 10-year birthday, but it won't get to that since the site is shutting down. Unfortunately, old age, spurred by a police raid on its two administrators, has contributed to its demise.
The
site's owner and one administrator were arrested by British police in 2009. The lawsuit was dropped and the two walked home free in 2011, but the damage was done.
Only a few people still use the site today, many were spooked after the raid, so its admins are calling it quits, TorrentFreak
reports.
While the site will be killed, the domain name is up for grabs, so anyone wanting to own a piece of P2P memorabilia has a chance to do so. Hopefully, the fact that the site doesn't attract so many users now will keep away those that would exploit the domain.
