Apple subsidiary FileMaker Inc. has released FileMaker Training Series: Advanced for FileMaker 13, a set of training materials to help developers churn out solutions optimized for iOS, OS X, Windows PC, and the web.

Added to the company’s portfolio of self-paced training curriculum, FileMaker Training Series: Advanced is specifically tailored to explain the nuts and bolts of the newly-launched FileMaker 13 and provide “in-depth coverage of development practices and techniques to help customers master the essentials of FileMaker 13 solution development,” according to the announcement.

The training materials are specifically geared towards intermediate to advanced users, according to FileMaker. However, “it will also be useful to anyone who creates solutions and for those developers preparing to become a FileMaker 13 Certified Developer,” says the company.

Key features include callout tips for developing FileMaker Go solutions for iOS devices and for the web-based FileMaker WebDirect.

Users will learn interface design and get valuable tips on leveraging FileMaker 13’s styles and themes, new scripts, container field enhancements, and database encryption. FileMaker Training Series spans a total of nine training modules and 55 lessons, complete with videos.

Sold primarily in eBook format for use on iPads, FileMaker Training Series: Advanced also comes in “a printed book with an accompanying DVD and an electronic download,” says FileMaker.

The current supported language is English, with French, German, and Japanese versions coming out later in 2014. Here’s the pricing scheme for each package, according to the press release.

FileMaker creates and sells software which, in turn enables others to create custom business solutions for various platforms. It specializes in database software that integrates a database engine with a graphical interface, allowing users to alter the database by dragging new elements into layouts, screens, or forms.

Under Apple’s wing, the company’s focus is the iOS operating system, which powers iPads and iPhones, followed by OS X, which is the underlying OS of every Mac. The company also makes solutions for Windows and the web.
