FileMaker 12 Released for Mac OS X. iOS Client Is Free

FileMaker has announced version 12 of its flagship product, which delivers new database creation tools and themes and 64-bit compatibility for wide area network support, large database support, and fast file and multimedia-content streaming. The iOS app is now free.

FileMaker 12 is said to mark the beginning of “a new era for databases, empowering users to create stunning custom database apps for iPad, iPhone, Windows, Mac and the web.” FileMaker Go for iPad and iPhone are now free downloads on the iTunes App Store.

Ryan Rosenberg, vice president, marketing and services, FileMaker, Inc., believes “Databases only boost productivity if people genuinely enjoy using them. Everyone wants a great database, but not everyone is a great designer. Let FileMaker 12 handle the design and you’ll create dazzling databases that are incredibly easy to use, on iPad, iPhone, desktop and the web.”
