New software solution to defend your system

Mac OS X is one of the lucky platforms that have been pretty much avoided by viruses and infections, which often target the Windows computers. However, a few weeks ago, some sort of threat was discovered, so the Mac fans were urged to protect their systems. Today, SubRosaSoft officially rolls out a security technology for Mac OS X, which is supposed to notify the user every time an application is started. The program can be bought for $59.95, but you can download a 30 minute trial version of the application, in order to test its features.

As far I can see, FileDefense works just like any other Windows firewall, as it detects every program which attempts to start and requires the user's approval. The application displays a message notification containing three options: Kill, Allow This and Allow All. The difference between the two Allow buttons is that the second one will ignore future notifications for the same program started by the user.

"If you do not yet trust an application, every file the application is trying to access (along with what it is trying to do to that file) is presented to you in a dialog, giving you the control to decide whether you want to allow the application to be able to access the document in question. You can even run a destructive virus with confidence that the damage it can do is limited. As soon as it starts accessing your files you will be alerted about it, and you will be able to force quit it and remove it from your system, all by simply choosing from 3 buttons on a dialog box," it is mentioned on the official SubRosaSoft.

Just as usual, you can download the latest version of FileDefense straight from Softpedia using this link.
