Over the weekend, PutLocker.com, the UK-based file hosting service, was hit by a distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attack that led to the website becoming unavailable for some users.

“We are experiencing a DDoS attack. During this time, the site may be hard to reach from some locations. We are working to mitigate it,” PutLocker.com wrote on Twitter during the attack.

Users have confirmed that California was one of the locations where the site was unavailable.

No other details have been provided. However, at the time of writing, PutLocker.com appears to be accessible.

PutLocker.com is one of the many file sharing websites banned by PayPal in the summer of 2012, after the payment processor introduced a new set of requirements for such sites.

PayPal wanted access to the service’s backend to monitor the uploaded files. Since PutLocker.com refused, PayPal banned it.
