The player can be used as a memory card or USB DAC through the new “USB Mode” feature

Today, FiiO has released its 2.05 firmware version developed for the X3 portable media player, which gives users the ability to use the X3 as a memory card or USB DAC through the new “USB Mode” feature added in the system settings.

Moreover, the firmware also adds the formatting function to the player’s menu, removes the gapless playback limitation that was set for album only, and fixes a problem with the M4A and AAC file formats.

In addition to that, the producer has outed a new USB DAC driver, which resolves the problem with PC Manager that didn’t properly recognize the X3 player and prompted an “Android Device” message.

As for applying this version, copy the firmware file from within the downloadable archive onto a formatted TF card, insert it into the player (make sure the player is turned off), and press and hold the menu and power buttons until the upgrade box is displayed.

Now, the update process starts and, when it finishes, the X3 will automatically reboot, at which point you must remove the memory card and verify the currently installed version to ensure that the process was successful.
