A new game from Virgin Trains has you fighting a zombified Sir Richard Branson

There’s a lot of strange stuff on Google Street View and much of it has surfaced over the years. There have been horse-headed men, scuba divers, sword fights, people promoting their band and people getting ‘friendly’ with each other. Of course, many more treasures probably await their discovery. So far though, no zombies.

That’s until Virgin Trains got in on the action. As part of a new promotional campaign for the British railway company, it has teamed up with Google and created a new web game set in an interesting location, the real world. Specifically, the real world as seen from Google Street View.

The game is available over at dontgozombie.com and is a simple Flash-based shooter. All you have to do is ‘shoot’ the zombies with, well, train tickets, to get them on their merry way. If you manage to get through the infestation to the train station of your choosing you win.

The interesting thing about it is that it all happens with the Street View backdrop. You navigate the streets like you would on Google Maps, but, every once in a while, you get attacked by a wave of zombies. The game is good for a few minutes of fun and the nice part about it is that the best players can win first class Virgin Trains tickets at the end of each month. And, as an added bonus, the Virgin group’s very famous founder, Sir Richard Branson, will be making an appearance in the game as well.

“At Virgin Trains, we aim to make your journey as quick and stress-free as possible. Anyone who has ever experienced the M6, knows very well that long motorway journeys can suck the life right out of us, turning us into zombies! So we are urging people to ditch their cars, and hop onboard. Over the years I’ve appeared in many fun guises but never as a zombie –at least I’ll know what I’ll look like if I ever come back as one of the undead!,” Branson said.
