The peripheral is made for gamers, has mechanical switches

Peripherals are an indispensable part of computers, and so they will remain until we master the technology of eye tracking and gesture recognition. They also come in a wide range of features. Adesso's new one is near the higher end.

Normal keyboards don't need to do much. As long as they let you type things, they can say they are doing their job just fine.

However, it's one thing to write a document and another to play a game. Especially since the former doesn't need multiple keys to be pressed at once all that often.

Also, games tend to cause the keyboard to incur many more key strokes (and strikes, hits, bashes, etc.) than a document editing session.

Adesso decided to include most of the potential benefits in the new EasyTouch 635, the Full Size Mechanical Gaming Keyboard.

The specs of the EasyTouch 635

The keyboard is a minimalistic peripheral which nonetheless weighs 2.7 pounds / 1.22 kilos and has more than its fair share of perks.

Multimedia keys may be absent, for example, but the hotkeys are integrated into the Function keyset on the upper edge. All it takes is pressing the Fn key to swap between them.

The full list of hotkeys includes the following: Volume Dn, Volume Up, Play/Pause, Stop, Prev. Track, Next Track, Mute, Windows Lock.

Mechanical switches are used for every individual key, which enable good haptic feedback and ensure a long life. Each switch is rated for fifty million presses.

Moreover, the N-Key Rollover function extends to 6 keys, meaning you can press six buttons at once without the device or the system stuttering and beeping. Good for high-speed fighting games where combos have to be spammed one after another.

As you might expect, the Windows logo key, which minimizes any window, can be disabled too, thus eliminating a potential headache and swear fest during games.

All in all, the newcomer measures 17.3 x 5.3 x 1.5 inches / 440 x135 x 38 mm and is colored completely black.

Availability

The Adesso EasyTouch 635 should be up for sale through major stores (online or otherwise) and has a price of $99.99 / €88. The product ships with an adjustable USB cable.
