Rumors of a fifth “Rambo” movie have been making the rounds ever since the fourth installment came out last year. As expected, both the movie studio and Sylvester Stallone have kept mum on the subject so far. Now, Sly is breaking the silence to confirm for Extra that, indeed, he is taking on the legendary character once more.

This comes just as the actor is quickly climbing up the popularity ladder with his work on “The Expendables,” a movie he wrote, will direct and star in. The timing is just perfect, as movie-oriented publications note, to make the Rambo announcement. “Yeah, we are doing another ‘Rambo,’ but the conflict is whether to do it in America or a foreign country.” Stallone told Extra the other day.

The 62-year-old actor, whose performance in the 2008 “Rambo” was much acclaimed by fans for the amazing physical shape he was in, refused to offer more info on the upcoming flick. Therefore, details such as cast or an estimated date (either for starting production or for release) are currently not available. With all this, for some fans, the confirmation, coming straight from the horse’s mouth, as they say, is more than enough to make the waiting seem shorter.

In the same interview with Extra, Stallone also spoke of Mickey Rourke, with whom he has already started work on “The Expendables.” According to him, the fame Rourke enjoyed with “The Wrestler” was more than deserved, so it came as no surprise to him that the film was, and still is, immensely popular. “I can totally believe it. It was just a matter of time... He’s a tough […] guy. He’s old school... Eventually someone was going to do a story that captures his heart, his plight and his biography.” Stallone said of Rourke’s “The Wrestler.”

Moreover, given the upcoming edition of the Academy Awards, where Mickey also got a nod, Stallone said that he personally made sure Rourke knew he was rooting for him. “Mickey, if anybody deserves an Oscar, it’s you. No question about it. You lived it. You earned it. You deserve it. You’re an incredibly talented man. It’s about time everyone says, ‘You know what. Give it to the winner.’” Stallone revealed his exact words to Rourke.
