Fido is among the last Canadian carriers to launch the BlackBerry Curve 9360. The smartphone goes for as low as $30 (23 EUR) with a new three year agreement.

Customers who want to avoid being tied by a long term contract can purchase the Curve 9360 for no less than $350 (270 EUR).

Those who are willing to commit to new three-year agreements are required to sign up for plans of $25 or more and eligible Data Add-on ($10/100 MB Add-on excluded). However, for a limited time, the carrier waived the activation fee for new 2- or 3-year agreements.

BlackBerry Curve 9360 is the low-budget BlackBerry 7 smartphone announced by Research In Motion (RIM) back in August.

This is supposed to be an affordable alternative to the more expensive Bold 9900, Torch 9810 and Torch 9860. BlackBerry Curve 9360 allows RIM fans with low budgets to taste the flavor of the latest BlackBerry 7 operating system.

Unlike the BlackBerry 7 smartphones mentioned above that feature touchscreens, the Curve 9360 comes with a standard 2.44-inch display that supports 16 million colors and 480 x 360 pixels resolution.

The smartphone only packs an 800 MHz single core processor, along with 512 MB of internal memory and 512 MB of RAM. There’s also a microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

Even though the Curve 9360 features RIM’s traditional portrait QWERTY keyboard, there have been reports that the keyboard does not match that of other BlackBerries.

On the back, the smartphone sports a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, face detection, image stabilization and VGA video recording capabilities.

The full range of connectivity options are included as well, such as HSDPA and HSUPA, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi support, microUSB and GPS.

The phone’s 1000 mAh battery is rated by the manufacturer for up to 288 hours of standby time or up to 5 hours of talk time.
