Are you considering getting a smartwatch and the Apple Watch or Samsung Gear S sounds good to you? Well, why shouldn't you buy a matching device for your kid, too?

And FiLIP Technologies is here to provide you with a child-friendly wearable just like that. Sure, the FiLIP 2 is not as advanced as smartwatches dedicated to adults are, as it is aimed at children with ages between 4 to 11.

The FiLIP smartwatch is more than a glorified GPS tracker, as it also has voice calling capabilities and direct messaging features, which can be controlled via a mobile app.

Parents have full control over the FiLIP where they can input five picked numbers the child can call or receive phone calls from.

The kid will be able to scroll through these contacts and pick whom to call, as needed. The watch comes in a variety of fun age-appropriate colors, and uses a combo of GPS, GSM and Wi-Fi to be able to track their children’s whereabouts.

In case of danger, there’s a red button on the right side which can be activated by a three-second push to place an emergency call.

Families with multiple children can get a clear view of the location of each child by taking a look at the FiLIP app. The application works with iOS device, but the Android version will be made available shortly.

The kiddie friendly watch is up for grabs from AT&T for $99 / €78, but bear in mind that this is a promotional price that won’t last long.

Given the fact that the ASUS ZenWatch costs $199 / €159, we’d have to say the FiLIP is a little pricey.
