Smartwatches are everywhere these days, but if you’re more concerned with security than anything else in the world, maybe you will be interested in what we have to say in the following piece.

The makers of the FiDELYS smartwatch want to roll out a product a little bit different than the devices available on the market today.

Sure, the timepiece will still be able to pair itself to a smartphone in order to relay notifications from calls and text messages, but it has an extra ace up its sleeve.

FiDELYS comes with a camera that’s unlike the ones implemented in the Samsung Gear 2. This one is smart enough to be able to scan your eyeball in order to save you the trouble of inputting your password.

This might be a useful feature if don’t want your spouse or child (or anybody else for that matter) to be messing with your watch and the data inside, so you set up a password to prevent them from having free access to it.

On top of that, private data from your smartphone and not only remains safe and sound, being kept away from curious eyes.

Adopters of the FiDELYS will be able to use the watch to access their slew of protected files on their computer and other devices.

The iris recognition technology living in the watch is provided by IriTech and is proficient enough to recognize your eye even if you’re located in a dark environment.

The team building the smartwatch is not saying how many applications taking advantage of the technology will be made available at launch.

However, we expect the feature to become more useful as more and more applications will start taking advantage of biometric security.

If by reading this, the smartwatch world has suddenly become of more interest to you, we should temper your enthusiasm by saying that the product isn’t a viable one, yet.

The developers are currently working towards setting up a crowd-funding campaign on Indiegogo in order to raise money to send the watch into production.

The watch looks stylish enough and comes with the much hyped round design, so we guess it’s aimed at being a Moto 360 competitor.

The FiDELYS arrives with Bluetooth Low Energy and NFC wireless communications and is equipped with a heart rate sensor and pedometer. Furthermore, the watch also takes advantage of wireless charging.

The FiDELYS teams aims to raise at least $350,000 / €256,444 which should be enough for them to finalize the device process, build prototypes and send the product into manufacturing. If all goes as planned, the watch should arrive in the first half of 2014.
