Phil Fish, the game creator behind the successful indie Fez, announces that work on the sequel has been canceled because of a bloody campaign waged by unidentified forces.

The official Twitter account of developer Polytron states, "It's with a heavy heart that we announce that FEZ II has been cancelled and is no longer in development. We apologize for the disappointment."

Fish has then offered a statement of his own blaming unknown groups for waging a campaign against him.

Fez II was initially announced during E3 2013 at the Horizon Indie Games event.

Phil Fish then said that he wanted to explore the game universe more but that the actual game mechanics would be very different from those of the original.

The developer compared the changes to those made by Nintendo from the first to the second Zelda title.
