Sports games are always huge money makers as a lot of people prefer both sports like American football or European soccer alongside playing video games at home. If the two are combined, the profit possibilities are quite high for any company involved in such a thing.
European football simulators have always experienced record breaking numbers, with the main battle being waged between EA Sports' FIFA franchise and Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) series. In order to further generate hype around its next title,
PES 2010, Konami has just unveiled that alongside the already announced Lionel Messi, Liverpool's striker Fernando Torres would also grace the cover of the game.
The young forward who is a fundamental player for both Liverpool and the national team of Spain, declared that “Everyone knows that when it comes to football simulation, Konami’s PES series is by far the most realistic title available. The new game looks absolutely stunning, and I look forward to seeing myself in action in PES 2010.”
His excitement was shared by Jon Murphy, PES European Team Leader, “ Fernando Torres has established himself as one of the most exciting strikers in the game. He encapsulates everything that is good about the modern game, showcasing both pace, skill and vision – three elements that play a major part in PES 2010 as a football simulation.”
The company also unveiled a few more details about the upcoming game that would appear
later this year. First, the realism has been taken to a new level, as the system for passes and shots has received an upgrade. Player characteristics will have a big impact on how a game is tackled and what strategy gamers will use. Sticking with strategy, a lot of famous teams will have their own specific characteristics, which players will have to master.
Other interesting features will be the new Master League, which will include both the Champions League and the Europa League, two of the most exciting competitions on the old continent. The matches will be commented by old time veterans Jon Champion and Mark Lawrenson, but their doing so will provide an even more realistic experience.
Overall, PES 2010 is looking extremely good, and will certainly attract a lot of sports fans.
