Are you sick of commercials coming at you on TV, on the Internet or in your mail? Well… get ready to have them coming at you in Fergie's new songs. Allow me to elaborate.
Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie is the first singer on the face of the planet that has agreed to promote a clothing company in her upcoming music album. And she is getting paid handsomely for it as well: some $4 million.
I refuse to say which clothing company is involved because I do not want them to gain any publicity on my account. This is simply outrageous. In all these decades there has not been one artist that has ever agreed to such a form of (dare I say it?) prostitution. Instead of selling her body, Fergie is selling (and at the same time she is tarnishing) her musical identity, and that's something that you can never get back.
But what on Earth (besides the $4 million) caused Fergie to take such a radical step? The answer comes from her label, Interscope. They believe that Fergie is entitled to do whatever she wants to do with her music to make a buck, since the illegal downloads have reduced the record sales. They are also trying to ensure Fergie's fans that this clothing company will have no saying in what the singer is trying to express in her songs.
Cut the crap! You do not know the whole truth. When Fergie will have live performances in the future, she will be accompanied by style advisers from this company that will give fashion pointers to the fans. I wish one of them advisers would come at me and "advise" me that my shirt does not go with my sport shoes, but he's got just the thing to "fix" me up.....you'll be hearing about it in the papers.
The fans are outraged that Fergie has agreed to sink this low and has stained the Black Eyed Peas name in the process. And frankly, so am I.
