14 DAY TRIAL // Fergie and husband Josh Duhamel welcomed their first child, a baby boy they named Axl Jack, about 3 months ago, but the Black Eyed Peas singer is almost back in top shape. Her secret, she tells Ellen DeGeneres, is belly dancing yoga.
If you’re surprised that such a thing exists, you’re not the only one because not even Ellen had heard of this combination before, as the first video of the two embedded below, at the end of the article, can confirm.
Fergie says she’s been getting back in the gym to return to her pre-pregnancy figure but she doesn’t feel any kind of pressure to lose weight quickly. Instead, she chooses to focus on losing the extra pounds in a healthy manner.
“I'm slowly getting back into it. I’m doing some belly dancing yoga,” she says, prompting a comment from Ellen about how she’s probably not having a very hard time with the exercise considering that she’s always been in amazing shape because of the physical demands of performing live.
“It starts to. The stretching. I’m kind of going, oh, ok. I’ve got to go slowly. I just don’t want to get hurt and all that, so I’m taking it step by step,” says the singer.
She’s probably also watching her diet but, if she is, she isn’t saying yet.
In the same interview, Fergie also explains how she and Josh chose the name Axl for the baby: Jack is for her late uncle, who was an “amazing man” who passed away last year.
“I had this dream and I was in the audience at this festival. It was outdoors and it was all grimy and nobody knew who I was. I was just one of the fans. It was like the old days. It was so cool. And on stage singing was Jim Morrison and then came Bob Marley and then Axl Rose. I mean, I was in heaven in this dream and I’m dancing and just getting into the music and then all of a sudden, boom, boom,” she says.
The “boom boom” came from her son’s kicking her for the first time. Because Bob or Jim didn’t go as wonderfully with Jack as Axl, Fergie and Josh picked this name that same night.
