Fergalicious phone

Motorola just made its MOTO U9 music phone official and will also use Fergie's image for promoting it at a large scale. The device has been long expected and now finally makes its break out on the market and even gets some decent specifications.

The phone's design is, by far, its single special feature. The PEBL smooth surface and animated screensavers that appear on the external display make it seem fun and lively. Going past its looks, MOTO U9 proves to be as plain as it gets. Just like many other music phones, this one brings support for a large number of media files and also an advanced player for them.

The 2 megapixel camera, although with 8x zoom and multi-shot feature, has low chances of being impressive. No harm in that, as this is a music phone and having great camera performances is not all that important. The greatest thing about it is that this handset has an optional microSD memory card that enables the storage of 4GB of music, pictures and other media files.

"MOTO U9 combines the surprising with the familiar, the latest in premium design and inventive controls with the next popular spin on Motorola's classic clamshell design to deliver the most stylish and dynamic mobile music experience", said Rob Shaddock, senior vice president of Feature and Mass Market Phones, Mobile Devices, Motorola.

The company's choice to use a well known performer in order to promote their latest music phone is nothing unusual. Samsung also teamed up with Girls Aloud for making the F210 handset just as popular as the girl band. "Fergie is a GRAMMY Award-winning, multi-platinum superstar artist as well as a woman on the cutting edge of modern style. She is the perfect icon to help us communicate to consumers that style and music are integral to people as a way to express themselves - and that MOTO U9 embodies those qualities," said Joni Christensen, director of Global Music Marketing, Mobile Devices, Motorola.

Motorola MOTO U9 will be out on the global market by the end of this year, in Asia, Latin America and Europe as well. The producer made no specifications on the price this handset will come for.
