Female Driver Takes to the Sidewalk to Avoid Stopping for School Bus

Sidewalk detours are apparently an everyday occurrence in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District.

32-year-old Shena Hardin was caught on camera driving on the sidewalk to avoid stopping for the school bus.

Uriah Herron was driving the school bus at the time, and he is the one that filmed the incident. He was commended for his quick-thinking by CMSD Bus Manager Eric Taylor.

"We had a very conscientious driver for 30 years. He really cares about his children and he took the extra step that this doesn't happen again," Mr. Taylor said.

The driver used his cell-phone to capture the footage, which could be considered more dangerous for the children he was transporting than Mrs. Hardin's offence.

The police were quick to intervene. The woman wasn't arrested, but did receive a citation for failing to stop her vehicle for the school bus.
