“Jodie Marsh on Steroids” is a new TLC movie tackling the topic of steroid abuse

Jodie Marsh made the transition from glamour model to bodybuilder some time ago, and she’s further capitalizing on that by getting more involved in reality television. Her latest project is a TLC film that includes the shocking case of a woman who has been turned into a man after years of steroid abuse.

The film is one of the two projects Marsh has with TLC; it’s called “Jodie Marsh on Steroids” and shows the former glamour gal talking with athletes and regular Joes who used anabolic steroids to bulk up and get improved physical performance.

One of them is Candice Armstrong, a 28-year-old woman from Walthamstow in London, whose photo you can also see attached to this article.

If you’re thinking that she looks like a man in women’s clothing, that’s because the steroids abuse has turned her into a man, she reveals in Jodie’s film, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Candice now has bulging muscles, body and facial hair, and a deep, masculine voice. The years of steroid use have also made her grow male body parts where there should be only female, but also develop severe back acne.

“No, it wasn't my plan. You could argue that when I wanted big arms and broad shoulders, a bigger back and small hips, that that was a masculine look but I didn't consciously decide I want to change from a woman into a man,” Candice tells Jodie when asked if she probably aimed for this change when she first started taking.

Her breasts have also been transformed, hanging “lifelessly” from her pectoral muscles, but that’s the least of her concerns.

“They've gone empty and they're not particularly nice but I'm cool with that – they were never my best feature anyway,” the bodybuilder says.

Even though her body will never be the same, Candice believes going off the steroids would actually do more damage than continuing to take them.

“I'd lose all the muscles but I wouldn't lose all the masculine qualities like the facial hair and the deep voice... It doesn't really go back. If I was to try and reverse that, I'd need the same sort of procedures as a male becoming a woman,” she says.

So, instead of wishing things were different, Candice is making lemonade, as the saying goes. She tells Jodie she’s started “doing a little bit of drag” and loving it because, if people are going to make fun of her either way, she might as well make money off it.
