Felicia Day, the actress best known to video game players for the work she has done on The Guild, is set to star and write for a web-only series that is based on the upcoming Dragon Age 2, a role-playing game developed by BioWare and published by Electronic Arts.

Day will play an elven rogue, called Tallis, that throughout the series will try to capture a mage escaped from the Circle, with help coming at certain stages from a number of companions that are also based on the deep Dragon Age lore.

Felicia Day spoke to io9 and said, “Working with Bioware was a dream, they allowed us creative freedom to delve into their world. The budget may have been higher than The Guild, but we shoot that show in my garage! This show needed everything made from scratch. We had stages, location shooting. We wanted it to look amazing, and on a web series budget that was challenging.”

The actress has already starred in 3 seasons of The Guild, the hit web series that is based on the unlikely adventures of a group of friends that play World of Warcraft, with much of the humor derived from the clash between real life and their online personas.

The Dragon Age 2 based series will probably not see any meta commentary on the nature of gaming and how it can influence the life of gamers but will play it straight and serve as a promotional vehicle for the BioWare-made title.

Day has not said whether her characters will also make an appearance in the video game or whether the two plots are entirely separate.

The full Dragon Age 2 video game will be launched for the PC, the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 on March 8 in North America and those who are unsure about whether they will like it can look forward to the demo scheduled for February 22.
