Founded 61 years ago in Hope, Arkansas, Klipsch Audio Technologies is one of the most successful consumer and professional
speaker companies in the US. First known as Klipsch and Associates, the company was founded by Paul Klipsch and got its first employee in 1948. During its history, today's Klipsch Audio Technologies produced loudspeaker drives and enclosures, but also complete loudspeakers for theater sound system, public address applications and, of course, home audio and personal computers.
Today, I want to tell you about two upcoming audio products from Klipsch that were designed to work with your iPod. The iGroove all-in-one speaker system from Klipsch needed some company, so the company took advantage of this year's CES trade show to announce two new products - the RoomGroove and the iGroove SXT. Although both are scheduled to ship in April, there is enough information available about them to get an idea, although the products are yet to be seen on the official website...
The first of the two is a high end product that will be available for a retail price of 349$, called RoomGroove. This device features a clean design with a hidden dock that can be hidden when it's not used with the help of a touch sensor concealed in the Klipsch logo that closes and opens it. Star Trek, here we come! The device also supports wall-mounting right out of the box, and additional sound sources can be used through the auxiliary input. The dual 2.5 inch high-output woofers and dual MicroTractix Horn-loaded tweeters are the components that should take care of your ears, and I am sure they do it the right way, especially when looking back at the previous iGroove models and their reviews...
At last, we have the iGroove SXT, a mid-range product available for 149$ that still manages to deliver excellent performance for its price, using dual 2.5 inch woofers and dual MicroTractix Horn-loaded tweeters. While it can also be wall mounted, the hardware required to do this is sold separately, and as an additional feature you will benefit of S-Video output.
