Feedly, the popular Google Reader replacement, has been getting better and better for the past few months. In the latest major update, it's gotten several new features, though some are only available to paying users.

The site has received a significant performance improvement in feed refreshing. Most feeds are polled 30 percent faster than before, resulting in stories reaching your feed even sooner after they are published.

What's more, pro users are getting an even bigger speed increase, with less popular feeds now being polled four times faster than before.

"Thanks to the engagement and sharing behavior from the community, we are getting a very clear signal of which articles are the most popular within each feed. We added a 'Popular' section at the top of each feeds to make sure that you do not miss those articles," Feedly explained another of the new features. This has actually been spotted in testing a few weeks back.

Also new is the possibility of changing the layout of the Feedly homepage. You can switch between title only, magazine, or cards.

The feed search has been improved; Feedly boasts that it's gotten a brand new search engine for feed discovery. This means that you can now more easily find feeds by URL or just by title or topic.

Article search remains a pro-only feature; however, Feedly says that, due to some optimizations, it can now provide the first result for any query for all users, though only pro users get the full set of results.

Also for pro users is the new custom sharing feature which, as the name implies, makes it possible to add a custom URL to use as the default sharing option. There's also a new Pro Roadmap tool which makes it possible to vote and suggest changes and improvements.
